ETHEREAL WHITES — A Study in Light and Petals

There is something quietly mesmerizing about white flowers. In the ETHEREAL WHITES series, each bloom is photographed in soft, natural light, revealing delicate layers and subtle tonal shifts that often go unnoticed at first glance.

All images in this series were shot handheld. Working without a tripod allows for a more intuitive connection with the subject — responding to light, angle, and movement in the moment. This approach keeps the process fluid and organic.

A defining element of the series is selective focus. By using a shallow depth of field, I allow the centre of the bloom to remain gently defined while the outer petals dissolve into softness. The result is not sharpness for its own sake, but atmosphere — a quiet sense of intimacy and presence.

ETHEREAL WHITES is less about documenting a flower and more about observing light as it moves across form. It is a study in restraint, stillness, and the subtle poetry of petals.
