Shades Of Solitude

This image was a study I did to experiment with perspective and depth of field. I found this fence, that was a combination of wooden boards attached to gridded wire and the excerpt you see was aimed to find a focus point that allowed the wire to create a sense of perspective against a blurry backdrop. I only focus on the wire with a wide aperture which created a shallow depth of field with the intend to stimulate the viewer to find their way through the image and  find purpose what this scene means for them. 
I decided to take out the colour in order to concentrate on the composition, allowing the simplicity of the soft dissolving wire against of the out of focus wooden board to create a sense of longing and transience. Shadows play softly across the wooden surface hinting at a history untold, while the wire stretches beyond the confines of the earthy realm. I invite the viewer to ponder what lies beyond and let this monochrome composition reign stillness and ignite a moment of quiet reflection in an otherwise chaotic world.
